Kerstin Roolfs figurative black and white paintings, and small ink drawings and collages, present images of people who, although portrayed together in the same pictorial space, appear to be dissociated from each other in a vaguely disturbing way. As with Lieberman, this work suggests narratives which are not readily accessible. Especially disquieting are Roolfs drawings of deform- ed babies, inspired by pathology displays at a medical facility at the University of Berlin.
